Theosophist Symbolism

The Krotona, a sprawling architectural pastiche of bungalows and apartments and home to a marvelous array of stone-cold alcoholics clinging to their Hollywood dreams is one of my favorite places to visit in LA. The Legman found himself coaxed into an “energy circle” holding hands with guests at a boho soiree recently, awaiting the opening of an inter-dimensional portal. The Dr. Strange sounding device was apparently utilized by devotees of the Theosophist Society and this was their HQ circa 1917. Madame Blavatsky’s spiritual esoteric society high-tailed it to Ojai when film biz party people arrived-the symbolism of their artifacts like this stained glassbaffles; none of the current residents can enligten. Maybe a Legman reader can?
