Lara in noodles and furs, Silver Lake

Our first foray as Legman LA takes us to Silver Lake where we find a telling sign of the Great Recession. A noodle line. The opening of Gobi Mongolian BBQ draws an elegant crowd, rocking designer gear and salon cuts. The Legman found the bar accessible, but a line shaped up stretching around the block for a pass at Mongolian fried noodles, gratis. And we could only watch in wonder as scenesters, hacks and flacks were chowing down like they just got of jail. Not long ago you couldn’t give the carbs away in La La Land.

He’s so shiny! We meet Diamond, Peter Gabriel’s affable axeman.

We meet the real John Stewart, documentary maker and friend of the Renegade Province.

Some drama went down when a guest errantly suspected Pulitzer winning noodle aficionado Jonathan Gold was among us. But we did meet Flavorpill’s Yolanda Evans and her tasting stud and had a blast. Beats the hell out of the Mongolian joint at 42nd and 10th where we got our noodles on back in the day.
