This Side of Paradise by F. Scott Fitzgerald (1920)

Stunning cover illustraiton you don’t see these days walking down the jarring aisles of Borders. The other night we enjoyed a Manhattan at the bar in Musso and Frank’s where Fitzgerald blew his liver out. Looks the same as when he sat there with Hemingway, except the literati -William Saroyan, William Faulkner , Raymond Chandler, John O’hara, Christopher Isherwood, Erskine Caldwell, Lilian Hellman, Thomas Wolfe, Thomas and Heinrich Mann, Dorothy Parker, Dashiell Hammett, Budd Schulberg, and Charles Bukowski-are history, the crowd has thinned, and so the joint’s fourth generation owner is recruiting new customers with a Friday and Saturday bar menu, and live jazz.
